 Abstract: This study assesses the contribution of renewable energy sources to reducing demand for fossil fuels and thus associated fossil fuel imports. This research study has been carried out in the context of the COBENEFITS project, which assesses a range of socio-economic cobenefits of renewable energy, in addition to the benefits of reducing energy sector greenhouse gas emissions, when compared to non-renewable energy systems.
